things going on

It's been one month since there's been a post, so I decided I should get cracking. I don't want to spend a ton of time writing because I have tons of things I want to do (VBS is next week, eeeeyaya!!) and there's a lot going on. And it's so thrilling, I love when we're super busy.

Also it might be confusing (when you get to "present") because I'm writing this on Thursday, but posting it on Friday because then it will be exactly one month since I last posted and I like things to be like that. Forewarned is forearmed.

Well... so first off...

I don't know if you've heard anything about this, but there's a court case going on against a doctor who was abusive to his gymnast patients and that was like years ago and he payed hush hush money to keep them quiet but now some of the gymnasts have come out and said stuff and now there's like a trial going on.

So, like, the leading testifier (or whatever you call them) is a lady named Rachel Delhollander and she and her family go to our church.

So, this past Sunday (night), my granddad fell down and broke his hip. We don't know if he tripped and fell or if his hip broke and that triggered the fall (which would be more likely), but he fell and his hip broke somehow, at some time. Apparently it was a few hours before he would let Gram call the paramedics (I think Dad said he fell down at 7...? and they finally called at 11).

So they got him to the hospital where he either had the brain aneurysm or where they found it. So they transferred him to a different hospital where they had more tools and things on hand. It's two words and starts with L and M and it's somewhere in Southern California. But I don't remember the name.

Well, anyway, he still hasn't woken up. Gram was going to stay in a hotel with my uncle's wife, Debbie, until he wakes up and can decide what he wants to do with his hip—either a brace over it or they can do something that Dad said was [more] invasive. I don't really know what it is, so I'd go with the brace. Either way, Dad said, Granddad would not be happy about his options when he woke up—or, if he wakes up.

internetless: week 3 // mairi

I didn't get on the computer like at all last week and I didn't watch any videos (because I forgot to), so yay! I guess it would be called a success, even if it was because I forgot.

But that gave me an idea, so Mags what do you think about doing it every other week or having, like, the first Monday of every month be the day/week that we catch up on all the videos we've missed? Does that defeat the purpose? Is it cheating?

But I think making it into, like, the Whole 30 is a great idea! ...I don't know if I have enough willpower, but I think it's a good idea in theory haha :)

Anyway, just wanted to know. ;)

the cross & the switchblade - book review

You probably haven't ever heard of David Wilkerson's book, The Cross & The Switchblade, but that's ok. I'm reading it for school and it's about a preacher who goes to the New York slums to share the gospel with children (teens, mostly) living in the ghetto.

So far it's really interesting but I am a little bit bothered about one thing.

internetless: week 3 // maggie

Yeah, I failed last week.

I watched some videos. Or a lot.

I was planning on saying something like "oh it wasn't a complete fail because I didn't keep me from anything that productive anyway" BUT THAT'S SO DUMB. Why would I say that?! If I'm not doing something productive it's not because I have nothing productive to do, it's because I'm consciously deciding not to do something productive!

And I don't have to be doing productive things all day every day, but "internetless" is about giving more time to productive things. And that's what I want to do this summer.

So this week, and so on throughout the summer I'm going to try to give up YouTube almost completely. It sounds really hard, and it will be. I'll constantly be like "hey just watch one video, it won't be so bad," but that's not what I said I would do.

Maybe I could do it for 30 days like The Whole 30 and if I watch a video I'll have to start all over again! I'm still going to use Facebook and Pinterest because I don't use those that often anyway.

Here is a list of things I can do instead. Not necessarily things I have to do, just things I can do.

the dress: update

So I know I told you (extensively) about the whole dress fiasco.

Well I've got great news!

Be prepared to be amazed, because I was. And no more grouchy posts which should make you amazed all over again!

Well, maybe I'll have grouchy posts once in a while, but this one isn't one of them so yay.

Here is all that happened that really made me happy and not mad anymore even though the dress is still stretched out. Oh well. You live and you learn, right?

Here is the story.
